JMM特刊征稿|Focus on Miniature Power and Energy Systems (PowerMEMS+ 2026)

The ability to generate, convert, store, manage and efficiently use energy at micro- and miniature scales is essential for increasingly autonomous and integrated systems. Advances in materials, fabrication and system integration are enabling miniature power and energy systems with improved performance and functionality across a wide range of applications.

This Focus Collection, associated with PowerMEMS+ 2026, will highlight recent advances in micro- and nanoscale technologies for power and energy generation, conversion, storage and management. Topics include energy harvesting from diverse sources, micro energy storage, thermal and chemical technologies, wireless power transfer, power management, actuation and micro-propulsion, low-power sensors and systems, and enabling materials, fabrication, integration and packaging technologies.

The collection will also highlight the expanding role of miniature power and energy systems in emerging fields such as soft robotics and low-power actuation, as well as embodied AI with ultra-low-power sensing and computing. These applications create new opportunities for tightly integrating energy, sensing, computation and actuation under stringent size and power constraints.

Building on the long-standing relationship between the Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering and PowerMEMS, the collection aims to showcase advances from fundamental technologies to integrated systems and practical applications.
