主题范围

This Focus Collection aims to capitalize on the momentum generated by the highly successful China-Japan Mini-Workshop on Nonlinear Waves and Integrable Systems, held in 2025 in Toyama, Japan. The workshop provided an excellent platform for leading experts and active researchers from China, Japan and the international community to exchange the latest ideas and breakthroughs at the intersection of nonlinear wave dynamics and integrable systems theory. The event underscored the rapid advancement and vibrant research activities within this field, fostering numerous collaborative discussions. We see this as a timely opportunity to compile a focused collection of high-quality original research articles that both document the progress highlighted at the workshop and provide a comprehensive overview of recent developments. The Focus Collection will serve as a valuable resource for researchers and stimulate further innovative work in the discipline.

We invite original research articles that present novel and significant advances in the theory and applications of nonlinear waves through the framework of integrable systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced analytical techniques for nonlinear waves (e.g., solitons, rogue waves, breathers)
  • Integrable structures underlying nonlinear wave equations
  • Inverse scattering transform and Riemann–Hilbert problem approaches
  • Bilinear methods and soliton solution constructions
  • Darboux and Bäcklund transformations
  • Hamiltonian and geometric formulations of integrable wave equations
  • Discrete integrable systems and lattice wave phenomena
  • Physical applications of integrable systems in nonlinear wave propagation
