1. 您为什么选择从事相关的领域研究?

I chose to work in my current fields due to my keen interest in materials science and engineering, especially polymers and nanomaterials have attracted my interest.

 

2. 您目前从事的研究工作有哪些?

  • Advanced Functional Nanofibers (electrospun nanofibers based on inorganic oxides for sensing and catalytic applications, electrospun polymer nanocomposites for energy and biomedical applications)
  • Flexible Electronics (piezoelectric and triboelectric nanogenerators for energy harvesting, force/pressure sensors, gas sensors)
  • Energy Materials (gel polymer electrolytes/separators for Li-ion, Na-ion and Mg-ion batteries)
  • Waste utilization

 

3. 您认为五年后该领域的研究重点将会是什么?

Flexible electronics, functional nanofibers, and energy materials have seen rapid progress in the recent past. The focus in the near future will be on developing these materials from sustainable and cost-effective resources, as well as enabling their large-scale production for real world applications. On the other hand, solid waste utilization on a large scale, especially that of polymers, has posed lots of challenges and opportunities. The research focus will be on large-scale utilization of polymer wastes.

 

4. 是什么吸引您加入Engineering Research Express期刊编委团队?

Until sometime last year, I did not come across ERX, though I had published a few papers in various IOP journals since 2019. However, a paper that I had submitted last year to another IOP journal was transferred to ERX. Eventually, I explored ERX and was glad to know about the high quality as well as the broad scope, and multidisciplinary nature of ERX. I had published a couple of papers in this journal by December 2025. I was very satisfied with the quality and speed of the review process; and the promptness with which those papers were published impressed me a lot. It has been my longtime dream to be on the editorial board of reputed international journals, especially those under renowned professional societies such as the IOP. I am happy that I have made it to the board of ERX.

 

5. 您认为像Engineering Research Express这样的期刊对领域的发展有什么重要影响?

Research has become an inevitable and inseparable part of academia worldwide. Engineering research has evolved over the last two decades tremendously and has grown leaps and bounds. Researchers working in some multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary areas have faced challenges to find the right forum for sharing their research with their peers from various parts of the globe. I trust that journals such as ERX, due to their high standards and inclusive nature, do provide an opportunity to reduce this burden largely. Moreover, the coverage of all engineering fields in ERX is broad. Hence, I do trust ERX will make its mark in scientific publication very soon.

Srinivasan Anandhan  教授

  • Professor Anandhan held a visiting research associate position at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2002. From 2004 to 2005, he was a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer at Inha University, Korea, within the former Textile Engineering Department (currently Chemical Engineering). Subsequently, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science at AIMST University, Malaysia, from 2005 to 2008. He joined his current institution in 2009 as an Assistant Professor, progressing to Associate Professor in 2012 and Professor in 2018. He served as the Head of his department from 2018 to 2020. He has successfully supervised ten PhD students and guided fifty master’s research projects in the domains of polymer science and technology, as well as nanotechnology. His research contributions encompass more than one hundred publications in peer-reviewed international journals, one granted and one published Indian patent, fifteen book chapters, and the editing of two international books. His team has successfully completed four sponsored research projects with total funding exceeding INR 35 million. His contributions have facilitated the establishment of various research facilities, including a micro-Raman spectroscopy lab, advanced nanofiber lab, flexible electronics lab, and polymeric materials lab, within his institute. He serves as a reviewer for more than sixty international journals and has reviewed over fifty doctoral dissertations. Furthermore, he has delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures. Prof. Anandhan was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK (2021), the Institution of Engineers, India (2017), and the Indian Chemical Society (2019). His accolades include the Australia-India Council Fellowship, an Inha University postdoctoral fellowship (Korea), the DST Fast Track Award, and the IEI Young Engineer Award from the Institution of Engineers (India), Mangalore chapter. He currently holds expert member positions on the National Board of Accreditation and a few more national and state-level committees. He was recognized as an IOP Trusted Reviewer in 2024. He has been invited to the editorial board of Engineering Research Express (IOPP) in April 2026.
