主题范围

The proposed focus issue on Recent Advances in Geo-disaster Prevention and Mitigations aims to explore engineering solutions and address the challenges associated with geo-disasters forcasting, prevention, and mitigation. Geo-disasters, including earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis, pose significant threats to human life, infrastructure, and the environment. The increasing frequency and intensity of these events, driven by both natural processes and anthropogenic activities, necessitate a comprehensive approach to prevention and mitigation. This special issue aims to consolidate recent advancements in research, technology, and practices that contribute to reducing the risk and impact of geo-disasters.

Considering the interest of researchers, through this focus issue we wish to invite papers not limited to the following areas:

  • Early Warning Systems: Development and implementation of early warning systems for earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, and other geo-disasters.
  • Risk Assessment and Modeling: Advances in hazard mapping, risk assessment methodologies, and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Engineering Solutions: Innovative engineering approaches for geo-disaster prevention, such as landslide stabilization, and flood defenses.
  • Climate Change Impact: Understanding the impact of climate change on the frequency and severity of geo-disasters and adaptation engineering strategies.
  • Technological Innovations: Application of remote sensing, GIS, machine learning, and other emerging technologies in geo-disaster management.
  • Case Studies: Detailed case studies demonstrating successful prevention and mitigation practices from around the world.

This focus issue is a part of Geoshanghai International Conference 2024, which is held in Tongji University in Shanghai, China. Selected papers of the conference will be invited to submit the full-length paper in the focus issue. The author should mention the submission ID associated with the conference in the cover letter, which ensures that the submission can be properly considered for further processing. Besides, this focus issue also welcomes submissions from other authors whose work fits with the scope of this focus collection.
