In history, every major scientific and technological breakthrough depends to a large extent on the advances of new materials. Thus, frontier materials are the foundation for the development of modern science and technology, and the study of frontier materials is of great significance to both scientific research and industrial applications. This special issue aims to highlight the recent progress of frontier materials research in the fields of energy, environment, information, biology and medicine, and advanced structural materials, with scope ranging from materials rational design, controlled fabrication, advanced characterization and practical application. This special issue will mainly include invited papers from “IUMRS Frontier Materials Awards” winners (about 15-20 scientists, experts and graduate students) certified at ICFM 2023, however any other excellent work is also very welcome.
