The use of nanomaterials and nanocomposites is rapidly increasing and covers a variety of industrial sectors from micro/nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, energy harvesting and storage, environment, chemical sensing, and cosmetics to structural materials, smart materials, coatings, biomedical devices and robotics.

This focus issue aims to connect the fundamental studies with the applications showcasing both the current use and future potential for impact of nanomaterials (e.g. nanoparticles, nanowires, nanorods, nanostructures, …) and nanocomposites.

It will cover the design, synthesis, fabrication, characterisation, testing, performance and use of nanomaterials and nanocomposites with attractive properties into all-inorganic or hybrid architectures.

Both fundamental and application-oriented studies are welcomed. Contributions can be original research articles or comprehensive reviews.
